eBay Inc. was excited to host a delegation of German Members of Parliament (MoP) and industry leaders organized by the American Chamber of Commerce - Germany at their San Jose campuses. The group met with Devin Wenig, President of eBay, to talk about the future of eCommerce and how one of the world’s largest online marketplaces is changing the landscape for consumers and businesses alike. The German MoPs also met with senior staff to discuss issues that are critically important to the future of global commerce, such as: reducing friction in cross-border trade, privacy, ePayments, and barriers and restrictions to online distribution.

At eBay Inc.’s north campus, The MoPs got a firsthand look at how eBay Inc. is enabling new mobile and local experiences for connected consumers and retailers through a tour of eBay's popular Innovation Showcase. With over 90 percent of consumer spending occurring in brick-and-mortar stores and 75 percent of that within 15 miles of home, eBay Inc.'s local- and mobile-enabled technologies are creating exciting experiences for and customers and businesses of all sizes. They also got a behind-the-scenes tour of eBay’s Site Engineering Center, providing a unique look at the systems eBay uses to monitor and resolve live site issues that keep the company up and running.

Serving tens of millions of active users on both the eBay Marketplaces and PayPal platforms, Germany has a strong partner in eBay Inc. With the German government's commitment to promote a digital agenda, the country is well-positioned to take advantage of the opportunities in omni-channel retailing and help lead the global commerce revolution.
