Yesterday, the European Parliament voted on protections to the open Internet as part of a legislative package on telecommunications. The measure, called the Telecoms Single Market proposal, seeks to codify open Internet protections into EU law and requires Internet service providers to treat all types of Internet traffic equally. This means that Internet service providers would not be able to pick and choose what content consumers can more readily access, but consumers would have the freedom to access any legal content they desire.

Last week, eBay hosted 12 senior staff members of the European Parliament as part of their ten-day visit to the U.S. to learn more about the impact of trade in the U.S. and the country's role in the negotiation and approval of trade agreements.  eBay Government Relations had the pleasure of taking the group through the Commerce Innovation Showcase and speaking to them about eBay's role as an enabler of small business growth and the power of technology-enabled trade.
