Last week, a subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee took an important step forward in strengthening the long-term financial health of the U.S. Postal Service by passing H.R. 5746, the United States Postal Service\'s CSRS Obligation Modification Act of 2010.
This bill has the potential to free up the $50 to $75 billion that the Postal Service has overpaid into its employees\' pension funds, which could provide financial relief to the Postal Service and, hopefully, in turn, the small online retailers currently facing an increase in their package delivery rates.
eBay supports this effort by Congress to address the financial health of the Postal Service and plans to continue to work with both Members of Congress and the USPS to ensure that the concerns of small online retailers are heard and considered as these proposals move through Congress.
