On 23 June 2011, the EU Parliament has adopted the Directive on Consumer Rights. eBay has been campaigning for the harmonisation of consumer rights across Europe for many years. Improved consumer confidence and a regulatory level playing field are essential for the many online businesses looking to trade internationally. eBay believes that the agreement reached by European decision makers will provide an improved and workable set of rules that will increase both consumer and trader trust in online commerce. It will form a sound basis on which to build the right climate for further harmonisation and we are confident that the parties involved are working towards this result.
