After working with various multinational corporations during the dot com phase, Berj Kacherian decided he needed a new challenge. That’s when his brother and he decided to start their own online business, AuthenticWatches.com, selling high-end, luxury watches at unbeatable prices to consumers around the world.
“eBay has been an important part of our business model since 2001,” says Berj. “eBay gives us great exposure. When customers log on to eBay to shop for luxury watches, there’s a good chance they’ll come across our business. Plus, when shoppers see our excellent customer feedback rating, it creates an instant trust in our brand.”
“eBay listens to us and proactively addresses sellers’ needs. Through its summits and meetings, eBay is facilitating greater interaction between sellers, giving us a chance to voice our opinions and share ideas. This type of dialog is good for business as we continue to grow.”
Berj notes that focussing on customer service has helped foster this trust and grow the company. “We always put our customers first, even when they don’t know it,” he says. “For example, one year Christmas fell on a Sunday and we were afraid some of our customers wouldn’t get their orders shipped on time. So we upgraded everyone to Saturday delivery, for free. Our customers were very appreciative of this gesture, because some of them hadn’t even realized that this could have been an problem! We just didn’t want any of our customers to worry about things like this on Christmas!”
