eBay Inc. was honored to host Congressman John Shimkus (IL-16) at eBay Inc. headquarters in San Jose this week.  As a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and chairman of its Subcommittee on Environment and the Economy, the Government Relations team was pleased to demonstrate the innovation taking place at eBay Inc. and how the company's platforms are enabling growth for large and small merchants in the 16th District of Illinois.  With 75% of all retail shopping occurring within 15 miles of home, and 40% of that spending involving an online interaction, multi-channel experiences (store-front, mobile, etc.) are key to retail shopping experience.  Through a tour of eBay Inc.'s Commerce Innovation Showcase, Chairman Shimkus experienced firsthand how the world of eCommerce and commerce - on and offline - are now seamlessly merged, creating growth opportunities for local small businesses and meeting consumers' needs.
