A new episode of the Main Street Minute, the eBay Government Relations Team’s advocacy video series, is now available. This 60-second video highlights a new problematic tax reporting provision that was jammed into the recently passed COVID stimulus package. As a result, a 1099-K income tax form will be issued for the sale of virtually all goods, even used or pre-owned goods, where no income tax is owed. This new change will mean even the most casual seller will receive confusing tax forms intended for businesses. Please know the eBay Government Relations team is currently fighting this legislation on multiple fronts as it is completely unfair to casual online sellers and we will continue to keep you updated. Additionally, we encourage you to visit ebaymainstreet.com to learn more about how you can participate in our advocacy efforts and help protect sellers of all sizes across the country.
