Last week, eBay CEO Devin Wenig and a delegation of international and local eBay leaders met with Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. The meeting was part of Devin’s first visit to Israel as CEO of eBay. Prime Minister Netanyahu and Devin discussed a range of issues related to commerce, innovation, macroeconomics, tech trends such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, societal implications like job displacement and cyber security. The Prime Minister’s political agenda is clearly aimed at encouraging and facilitating foreign investment and innovation, which perfectly fits eBay’s growing activity in Israel, both in terms of cross-border commerce and research & development.
eBay is strongly committed to Israel. The company’s activity and workforce in Israel are expected to grow significantly in the coming years. In addition, our platform enables tens of thousands of small sellers in Israel to start and expand their business, selling and shipping to a total of 95 countries around the world. For thousands of these sellers, eBay sales represent their main source of income. The Israeli consumer is also an avid online buyer, with one in every eight Israelis actively using eBay to access goods from around the world at competitive prices. eBay is working with the Government of Israel to improve all aspects of national and cross-border trade for sellers and buyers in Israel, including for example improving postal and parcel delivery services and simplifying customs formalities and duties.
