Ashley Shillingsburg, the Head of Americas Government Relations for eBay, joined the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) for a congressional briefing about combating the illegal trade of wildlife online and the potential role of the US government in addressing the problem.

eBay is committed to animal welfare and the protection of native, endangered, and threatened species, and is proud to be an industry leader in preventing wildlife trafficking online. In 2023, eBay blocked approximately 450,000 listings that violated our wildlife and endangered species policies. eBay enforces these policies through a robust combination of sophisticated tools, dedicated teams, and coordination with law enforcement and regulators around the world. 

In addition to eBay, panelists at the briefing included the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), PetSmart, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Office of Law Enforcement. The event was sponsored by Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials Subcommittee Chairman Buddy Carter (R-GA).
