As the U.S. Presidential election approaches, so do the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. This year, the Republican National Convention will take place August 27-30 in Tampa, Florida, and the Democratic National Convention will take place September 3-6 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

eBay Inc. Government Relations has traditionally had a small presence at the National Conventions on behalf of all eBay Inc. customers. Our goal, as always, is to spread the message that technology continues to empower consumers and retailers of all sizes, especially small businesses and entrepreneurs. The conventions are a great way to build and maintain relationships with local and Federal legislators as well as thought leaders.

The company is supporting two charitable organizations through event sponsorships: Birdies for the Brave and Share our Strength. Birdies for the Brave is a military outreach initiative proudly supported by the PGA TOUR that is dedicated to supporting the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The charity will hold a golf tournament at the convention and is currently holding an auction on eBay featuring a number of items signed by famous golfers such as Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson. Share our Strength, a national nonprofit aimed at ending childhood hunger in America, will raffle off rare items at both conventions including two vintage bowling pins signed by actor Jeff Bridges. eBay employees will be on hand to sell raffle tickets using the new PayPal Here payment service.
