eBay Sellers Visit Washington for Hispanic Heritage Month

October 3, 2024

Last week, four eBay sellers visited Washington to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month and to meet with policymakers about a host of issues affecting small business owners.

The four sellers represent the wide array of products available on eBay:

  • Walter Gonzalez, who started his business after moving to the U.S. from El Salvador, is one of the most trusted auto parts distributorships online. He sells Mercedes Benz, Sprinter, Audi, Mini Cooper, and BMW parts. He was able to scale his business from a home office space to a 4,000 sq. ft. warehouse.
  • Malena Martinez sells vintage fashion finds from the early 1700s up to 1980. She donates 10% of her eBay proceeds to charity and also has a brick-and-mortar retail store in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
  • Angie Nelson and her husband Joe sell electronics that would otherwise end up in a landfill to eBay customers. Their business, which has 14 employees, has diverted well over 5 million pounds of e-waste from landfills.
  • Will Zena owns and operates AVZEN Sports, an eBay storefront specializing in trading cards including sports cards, memorabilia, and novelties. The company has sold nearly 400,000 items and has a brick-and-mortar location in Fort Myers.

During their visit, the sellers met with the Office of the Vice President, the Senate Small Business Committee, and the House Small Business Committee. Additionally, they attended a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration held at the Department of Commerce with key government officials.

The eBay Government Relations team thanks our sellers for coming to Washington to advocate on behalf of American small businesses powered by eBay!
