Last week a delegation from the European Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee (IMCO) visited eBay’s headquarters in San Jose, California. The delegation was led by Vicky Ford, Chair of the IMCO Committee, and comprised of Members of the European Parliament, including Andreas Schwab, Lambert Van Nistelrooij, Dita Charanzova, Evelyne Gebhardt, Roza Thun and Catherine Stihler.
The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for senior leaders from eBay’s Legal and Trust & Safety teams to present eBay’s position on privacy and the methods we use to ensure that our users have an enjoyable, reliable and safe shopping experience. In addition, Tod Cohen, eBay VP and Deputy General Counsel, shared eBay’s views on the Digital Single Market and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). IMCO leads on the EU’s Digital Single Market Strategy – a key legislative program that is welcomed by eBay and which promises to significantly boost online trade for European small businesses. eBay appreciates these leaders’ efforts to set policy that facilitates trade within and beyond the EU’s borders and sets high standards for protecting European consumers.
