Last week Nick Martin, co-owner of the Pro’s Closet eBay’s largest used cycling store, located in Boulder, Colorado, invited his elected officials to come tour his business’s facility and discuss the effects the Marketplace Fairness Act would have on smaller and mid-size businesses, that don’t quite fall into the same category of large retailers such as Amazon, but also are above the current 1M proposed exemption threshold. “We just don’t have the internal resources to comply with this legislation,” explains Nick. Monisha Merchant, Senior Advisor for Business Affairs for Senator Bennet (D/CO) and Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO-02) visited the warehouse, which also serves as a store front. Nick and his colleagues explained how the business has grown since its inception and where they plan to take in the near future successfully shedding light on the concerns they have with the definition of small businesses currently found in the Marketplace Fairness Act.
