Last week Oregon Senate President Pro Tempore Ginny Burdick and House Representative Jennifer Williamson stopped by eBay Inc.'s downtown Portland office to discuss the company's expanding presence in the city with local VP Kevin Hurst. They also met with employees to answer questions and discuss their legislative priorities for the 2015 legislative session.
eBay Inc.'s foray into the Portland market is relatively recent and came about through the acquisition of a local app developer startup, Critical Path, at the end of 2010. The company recently procured additional office space to take advantage of Portland's blossoming tech employee base as the office plans to double its current staff size. The Portland office plays a critical role developing all of eBay's mobile apps, which have become of increased importance to buyers and sellers as more and more of them opt to buy and sell using their mobile devices. This trend in consumer buying habits will undoubtedly mean that eBay Inc.'s Portland office will continue to play an integral role in the company's long-term success.
