In 2012, the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) proposed to Ministers the creation of the Asia-Pacific Financial Forum (APFF), a regional platform to facilitate closer and sustained collaboration between the public and private sectors, together with multilateral institutions, to help accelerate the development of integrated financial markets and services in the region and of relevant regulatory approaches.
The APFF first met in 2013 and its focus areas include: (a) lending infrastructure; (b) trade and supply chain finance; (c) insurance and retirement income; (d) financial market infrastructure and cross-border practices; (e) capital markets; and (f) linkages and structural issues.
