Earlier this month, PayPal’s John Muller and Smitha Mortis Koppuzha and eBay Inc.’s Ali Gabel participated in CFA’s mobile payments dialogue in Washington, D.C. The focus of the event was how a shift from mag stripe to chip and pin technology could impact consumers’ dispute rights and what additional consumer protections, if any, are needed for mobile payments. Industry and regulator participants included Kevin Leitao Isis, Mobile Commerce; Phil Gura, Merchant Customer Exchange (MCX); Marianne Crowe, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston; Cindy Jenkins, NACHA; John Hughes, Paydiant; Charise Flynn, Dwolla; Thomas Schumacher, CFPB; Ruth Susswein, Consumer Action; Elvira Swanson, Visa Inc.; Heather Allen, FTC; Eduard Bartholme, Call For Action; and John Breyault, National Consumers League. We will continue to attend these events to push for proper protections for all eBay Inc. customers.
