The US Senate passed a $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package today by a vote of 69-30, which now will go to the House of Representatives. The legislation includes new funding for transportation infrastructure, including investments in roads, bridges, rail, transit, and airports, as well as in energy efficiency and power grid resiliency. The bill also includes $65 billion for broadband affordability and deployment.
As eBay CEO Jamie Iannone noted in his recent op-ed, investments in infrastructure are critical for helping small ecommerce businesses grown and compete. Investments in broadband, particularly in rural areas and underserved communities, are especially important to ensure that everyone has access to online tools and the benefits of the digital economy.
eBay supports these important investments in our nation’s infrastructure, and looks forward to final passage in the House of Representatives.
