This week, Hanne Melin of eBay Inc. Public Policy Lab held a two-day lecture entitled the Digital Challenge at Lund University. Hanne’s lecture formed part of the European Business Law masters program at the Law Faculty.
Technological innovation is disrupting and changing markets, industries, user behaviors and expectations. Legal instruments and processes must adapt in order to stay relevant amid this rapid change. Herein lies the “digital challenge” that policymakers and legislators face: How to appropriately respond to change and design borderless, dynamic solutions? Earlier this year, Hanne published an article providing a comprehensive analysis on this issue.
Hanne’s lecture at Lund University sought to encourage the law students to start reflecting on and discussing the way legislation and policymakers meet the "digital challenge" - today and tomorrow.
See the lecture outline for more on the examples and issues discussed as well as suggested reading.
