Yesterday, Senator Shaheen (D-NH) went to the Senate floor to express her opposition to the Internet sales tax legislation that is currently moving in the U.S. Senate. Senator Shaheen has been a long time opponent to creating a new online sales tax regime that would open the doors for state tax enforcement agents to cross state borders and impose tax burdens and enforcement actions against businesses located in completely different states. As a Senator from a non-sales tax state, Senator Shaheen is very concerned about the impact that this bill will have on small online businesses operating in New Hampshire.
