Over the past few days, Senator Max Baucus (D-MT), Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, has been on the Senate floor multiple times to express his opposition to the Internet sales tax legislation that is currently being debated in the U.S. Senate. As the Senior Senator from Montana, which is a non-sales tax state, Senator Baucus is very concerned that this legislation will turn his states’ businesses into tax collectors for other states where they have no connection or right to vote. In a recent speech on the Senate floor, Senator Baucus said that the Internet sales tax bill would be “bad for business and bad for jobs” and he urged his colleagues to vote on the bill.
