In June, four Members of Congress toured the eBay Inc. Commerce Innovation Center in New York, NY: Rep. Peter Roskam (IL-06); Rep. Lynn Jenkins (KS-02); Rep. Randy Neugebauer (TX-19); and Rep. Kevin Brady (TX-08). (Pictured, L to R): Rep. Neugebauer, eBay Inc. Federal Government Relations' Ali Gabel, eBay Inc. Federal Government Relations' Hillary Brill, Rep. Brady.
The visit was an opportunity to showcase to Members of Congress how eBay Inc. is uniquely positioned to leverage its wealth of technology and insights to create new commerce experiences for customers, such as new ways to receive relevant deals or to securely make a purchase anytime, anywhere, any way.
Topics also included new requirements for cross-border payments that have created a number of repetitive burdens for money services businesses (MSBs) like PayPal and small banks and credit unions, and the potential burdensome impact of Internet sales taxes legislation on small businesses. Whether trying to create a frictionless consumer experience when engaging in transactions or a better buying experience overall, eBay Inc. understands that the future of commerce isn’t just about transactions; it’s about people and putting the power directly in the hands of customers.
