The Las Vegas Review-Journal published an article last week based on an interview with small business owner Jason Smith. Jason, owner of Tiki Pug Music and co-founder of Thrifting with the Boys, expressed his concerns with the Marketplace Fairness Act, and the devastating effects it could have on small businesses including his own. In the interview, Jason recounts his decision to open a business of his own and follow his entrepreneurial passions. He successfully lays out the extreme burdens on small business owners, which would be attached to the bill, preventing growth and hampering small business. Beyond his own business, Jason shows concern for other small business owners, such as retirees, who rely on the supplemental income. Jason says he is not sure that his business could survive if the Marketplace Fairness Act were to pass. “I think people who are in support of it are just dazzled by the dollar signs. They’re not thinking about the small seller online,” Smith said.
