Today, The Chippewa Herald published a letter to the editor submitted by eBay seller Rebecca Germain, owner of MidWest Scrapbook in New Berlin, Wisconsin. In her letter, Rebecca expressed her concern the Internet sales tax legislation pending in Congress and how it would negatively impact small Internet-enabled businesses all over the country.
Rebecca refutes claims that small Internet retailers are forcing Main Street retailers out of business. She explains that whether a small business in online or on Main Street, both promote economic prosperity in their local community and it is unfair to treat online small businesses the same as mega-billion dollar retailers just because they are Internet-enabled.
