Last week, Nevada State Senator Debbie Smith toured the eBay Inc. Commerce Innovation Showcase in San Jose, California. Senator Smith represents Nevada's 13th Senate District which includes the cities of Reno and Sparks. She serves as Assistant Majority Leader of the Senate, is Chair of the Senate Finance Committee and was recently elected President of the National Conference of State Legislatures. During her visit, eBay Inc. presented the company's vision for the future of technology-enabled commerce and the opportunities that will be created for both consumers and businesses to leverage the global marketplace. Discussions between Senator Smith and eBay Inc. Government Relations and Tax representatives included topics such as Internet sales tax, the modernization of retail stores and how to improve the commerce experience for consumers and businesses.
The Senator also toured of the Site Engineering Center and witnessed firsthand how eBay tracks the network and rapidly responds to problems.
