California Assembly Republican Caucus Members
eBay Inc. was excited to host the 28 members of the California Assembly Republican Caucus at headquarters last week, introducing them to the latest eBay Inc. innovations and how they have changed the landscape, particularly for small- and medium-sized businesses in each of their districts.
The Assembly members spent time in the eBay Inc. Innovation Showcase, learning more about our business model and the ways in which omnichannel retailing, mobile and local are benefiting small businesses and consumers. With over 90 percent of consumer spending occurring in brick-and-mortar stores and 75 percent of that within 15 miles of home, eBay Inc.'s local- and mobile-enabled technologies are creating exciting experiences for and customers and businesses of all sizes.
In addition to connecting consumers with great local experiences, the eBay team illustrated how through the power of the Internet and mobile technology small businesses are now able to easily access global markets. In fact, according to eBay Inc.’s Commerce 3.0 study, over 90 percent of U.S. businesses using ebay.com are trading across borders, and on average these businesses sell to more than 30 different countries. Comparatively, only 5 percent of businesses using more traditional business models trade across borders, and on average they sell to fewer than five countries. The study also found that small businesses that participate in the global market are healthier than their traditional counterparts. Technology-enabled businesses that export have a 60 to 80 percent higher rate of survivability than offline businesses.
We want to thank the Assembly Republican Caucus again for spending time with eBay Inc. and for continuing to make private sector job creation a focus in the new legislative session. To find out more about the Caucus members and activities, visit their website.
