This week eBay had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the European Parliament and the European Internet Forum (EIF) at our headquarters in San Jose, California. The visit was part of the EIF’s Study Visit to Silicon Valley under a theme of “ICT Innovation & Entrepreneurship: The Road to The Valley.” This visit was aimed at offering a hands-on experience of today’s technologies, top-level research and development sites, and of Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurial ecosystem; with a focus on Europe’s potential and the role of policy makers in this space.
eBay’s VP of Global Government Relations, Tekedra Mawakana, welcomed the group and gave an overview of eBay’s business and our purpose of empowering people and creating opportunity through Connected Commerce. The group also discussed important US and EU policy issues affecting the tech industry. VP of Engineering, Louis Perrochon, also participated in the meeting and discussed innovation at eBay and his team’s vision for eBay’s future.
Thank you to the European Internet Forum for orchestrating this visit and engaging in a meaningful discussion with us. We look forward to continuing the policy and innovation dialogues.
