Last week, eBay Government Relations and Friends of eBay teamed up to host Startup Global NYC at eBay’s New York City office, in collaboration with the US Department of Commerce, the Global Innovation Forum and NYC Economic Development Corporation. The all-day event was the latest in a series of forums hosted across the country as part of Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker’s Startup Global Initiative.
Startup Global NYC brought together NYC-based entrepreneurs, investors, government officials, and academics, providing them with opportunities to ask questions and comment on the subject matter, as well as network throughout the day. Panelists – which included startups, service providers, and government officials – discussed how local entrepreneurs are engaging globally and the challenges they face along the way. The event highlighted US Government and private sector resources - including those at eBay, like the Global Shipping Program - that are available to help startups reach international markets.
Among the speakers at the event were eBay sellers David Moreno, owner of 232Tech and an eBay Small Business Ambassador, and Nikki Lawrence, owner of gleemco and former participant in the Friends of eBay program. Both participated in the ecommerce panel, providing their unique perspective on building companies that use ecommerce and digital marketing to reach international customers.
eBay Government Relations looks forward to being involved in more of these valuable events in the near future. Click here to see a detail recap of the event. To check out the conversation on social media check out the twitter hashtag #StartupGlobal.
