From L-R: eBay VP of Government Relations Cathy Foster, CA Assemblyman Evan Low, eBay VP of Business Operations Helen Kim and eBay Seller Diversity Ambassador Dominique Hollins
Not even one of the hottest days of the year could deter California Assemblyman Evan Low from meeting with eBay employees, including United in Pride (UIP), eBay's LGBTQ employee group, and Helen Kim, eBay’s Vice President of Business Operations for Product and Technology, to help kick off Pride celebrations at our San Jose headquarters. As the youngest Asian-American legislator to have been elected to the Assembly in state history, and the youngest openly gay Mayor when elected Mayor of the city of Campbell, Assemblyman Low spoke about the challenges he’s faced in public service and his efforts to advance public policy that supports inclusion.
As eBay’s own Assemblyman, a well-known leader on tech policy in the state capitol, and a strong advocate for the LGBTQ community and diversity everywhere, we were honored to hear from him and thankful for his time engaging eBay employees.
About: eBay is committed toDiversity & Inclusion and it goes well beyond a moral necessity – it’s the foundation of our business model and absolutely critical to our ability to thrive in an increasingly global landscape. For eBay, challenges in this area represent opportunities to make our workforce, workplace and marketplace better for everyone. Last year, eBay released its first diversity and inclusion report since spinning off of PayPal in 2015, and published an extensive, global study of gender pay equity which found parity in the U.S. in terms of salary. eBay also hired its first Chief Diversity Officer, and is increasing opportunities for employees around the globe to engage in Communities of Inclusion groups, like UiP, Black Employees at eBay (BEE), and UNIDOS.
