Last week, eBay participated in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) in Washington, D.C. The CBCF ALC is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global black community. This year, more than 10,000 people attended, including eBay’s Chief Diversity Officer Damien Hooper-Campbell. “This was my third year attending CBCF ALC and it was an honor to once again engage with members of the Congressional Black Caucus to discuss the important issues of equality and entrepreneurship in Black America”, said Damien. “This conference is a great way for eBay to both share our diversity and inclusion work while learning from some of the leaders in the field.”
Damien and the Legal & Government Relations Team co-hosted events honoring Representatives Cedric Richmond, Donald Payne, Jr., Barbara Lee, G.K. Butterfield, Sanford Bishop, Tony Cardenas, Lucille Roybal-Allard and the Reverend Jesse Jackson, Sr. This included sharing a legal internship video produced by the team which was very well received. Over the course of the multi-day event, Damien participated in the following public policy forums:
- CBC Tech 2020: TECHWORK: Black Employees Changing the Face of Tech – provided over 30 tech companies with the opportunity to offer career development advice and mentoring to 150+ students and professionals interested in joining the tech sector.
- Veterans Brain Trust: Facing Today’s Challenges after Three Decades of Struggle for Inclusion, Diversity & Opportunity – a forum focused on innovative initiatives designed to benefit minority veterans.
- The Fourth Annual State of African American Small Businesses: Using Your Business to Build Wealth for Generations – kicked off by Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), this panel offered insights and strategies on advancing entrepreneurship and wealth creation in the black community.
“eBay would like to thank the CBCF and the members of the Congressional Black Caucus for creating such an important policy forum”, said Cathy Foster, eBay VP of Global Government Relations and Public Policy. “This is an impactful event for all involved and eBay looks forward to continuing our strong partnership with the CBC on this and other signature events.”
