This month, the eBay Government Relations Team hosted 12 state legislators from Oregon and
Washington at eBay headquarters in San Jose, CA. The legislators were visiting companies in Silicon
Valley as part of a tour organized by TechNet, a national bipartisan technology trade association. Cathy
Foster, eBay VP, Global Government Relations & Public Policy, led the meeting and provided an
overview of eBay and our seller community in Oregon and Washington. Adam Ireland, VP and General
Manager of eBay US, presented on how eBay provides economic opportunities to small businesses and
entrepreneurs across the globe. He also highlighted the findings in our new 2023 Small Business Report,
which included that 94 percent of sellers rely on eBay for their success. Additionally, Ryan Jones, eBay
VP, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer, discussed eBay’s commitment to the safety of its users and to
protecting the integrity of products sold on our marketplace. Finally, Mike Carson, eBay Senior Director,
Regulatory, highlighted our proactive partnerships with retailers to combat Organized Retail Crime as
well as how we collaborate with law enforcement to keep unsafe and illegal goods off the platform. The
legislators provided their perspective on consumer safety and privacy issues, which will remain a high
priority for them in the upcoming 2024 legislative session. eBay would like to thank the legislators for
taking the time to meet with us while in Silicon Valley and for their leadership on these important issues.
