Markets like Russia have been priority emerging markets for many Silicon Valley companies. By encouraging IT infrastructure development, cross-border trade and economic development, investments in Russia, Brazil, India and China provide global opportunities for commerce players, like eBay sellers and PayPal merchants. Recently, eBay Inc.’s Government Relations team partnered with the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham Russia) to foster dialogue with Silicon Valley and Russian technology leaders. The mission of the event was to highlight the technological ecosystem developing in Russia and the investment opportunities for Silicon Valley companies.
eBay Inc. Senior Vice President Ed Eger kicked off the event and introduced eBay’s growing presence in Russia and its vision of the future of commerce, emphasizing the blending of traditional boundaries of online and offline worlds. The audience was particularly interested in how eBay's successes in various markets have acted as a catalyst for solutions to related issues, such as improvements in local postal services.
eBay Inc.’s businesses are well placed to help new and emerging markets become technology hubs for commerce. eBay Inc.’s Government Relations team will continue to cultivate public and private sector partnerships in emerging markets like Russia on behalf of eBay Inc. customers.
