The Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA) released a blog post expressing their concern with the Marketplace Fairness Act recently released in the U.S. Senate. CCIA is a nonprofit membership organization for a wide range of companies in the computer, Internet, information technology, and telecommunications industries, represented by their senior executives.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton made a visit to the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) Summit last week, congratulating eBay Inc. on its innovative approach toward empowering women leaders.

“I love this idea,” said Clinton of WIN. “Building relationships, growing careers, breaking down biases, opening doors for collaboration and development - it’s no wonder that WIN has helped eBay more than double the number of women in leadership roles.”

Earlier today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released the full text of its new Open Internet order, commonly known as net neutrality order. The FCC voted on the long awaited net neutrality rules last month with a final vote of 3-2. Although the rules passed last month, the full text of the order hasn't been available until today.

Yesterday, a group of bipartisan Senators introduced the Marketplace Fairness Act of 2015 (MFA) in the U.S. Senate. The bill is modeled after the legislation, also entitled the Marketplace Fairness Act, that failed to pass in the 113th Congress. The current iteration of the bill would require small business owners to collect sales tax based on 9,600 different jurisdictions across the country. It would also open businesses to audits from every state, regardless of where they are physically located.
