Yesterday, PayPal was honored to host Congressman Brad Ashford (D-NE) at the Omaha, Nebraska campus. During his visit, Congressman Ashford not only received a tour of the campus, but visited with a number of the employees whom were pleased to share with the Congressman the vision of PayPal and future of digital payments. The Congressman also had the opportunity to chat about some of the major policy issues he is working on in Congress, including trade, cybersecurity and enabling businesses in Nebraska to grow.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court issued an opinion on a Colorado Internet sales tax reporting law that could ultimately have an effect on internet-enabled businesses. The Colorado law at issue requires sellers outside the state of Colorado - including many that use the Internet to sell - to report the value of each purchase made by a Colorado resident to Colorado’s revenue agency. While the intent of this law was to assist this Colorado agency in collecting use taxes from its residents, sellers with no physical presence in Colorado objected to the new reporting requ

Last week, Utah eBay sellers went to the Utah State Capitol to meet with their legislators on issues affecting Internet-enabled small businesses throughout the state. The legislators heard firsthand how eBay Inc. and its community of sellers – like Jester’s Jerseys, MDG Sales, LLC, and Stitchery Xpress - are creating jobs and investing in their communities, and why it is important to preserve this environment in support of the state’s continued economic growth.

Last week, a group of 12 bipartisan Senators, representing states sharing a border with Canada, sent a letter to the Canadian Ambassador asking that the Canadian government consider raising their current de minimis threshold.
