Yesterday, the Internet Association, a trade organization that represents the interests of the leading Internet companies, including eBay Inc., submitted additional comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regarding the ongoing Open Internet or network neutrality debate. Earlier this year, the FCC launched a new federal proceeding in an effort to seek public opinion on the best way to preserve Open Internet access in the United States.

Last week, Tod Cohen, Vice President of eBay Inc. Global Relations, joined industry leaders, policymakers and academics for the inaugural Internet Policy Symposium co-hosted by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics (IOP) and the Berkman Center for Internet and Society. The two day event, hosted by The Internet Association, focused on all things Internet policy related. Topics included patent reform, privacy, network neutrality, and empowering American entrepreneurs.

Tod Cohen, Vice President of eBay Inc. Global Relations, will be joining U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker and other business leaders on a U.S. business delegation visit to Poland and Turkey later this month. The U.S. business delegation is part of President’s Export Council economic fact-finding mission to these countries. Last year, eBay Inc.’s CEO, John Donahoe, was appointed by President Obama to the President’s Export Council.

In a recent letter to the editor of the Dallas Morning News, Dallas small business owner, Ann Wood, expressed her concern with the Senate passed Marketplace Fairness Act. In her letter, Wood explained that it is unfair to treat a small businesses like hers the same as a large retailer with presence all over the country.

According to a recent study by Nielsen, “webrooming” is beginning to become a very popular trend among global shoppers, which is good news for omni channel retailers of every size. For years, traditional retailers feared the potential effect of “showrooming”, when consumers visit brick-and-mortar stores to test out products but ultimately make their purchase online from a competitor.
