In early October, international trade officials announced the conclusion of negotiations into the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement, which would update rules impacting ecommerce exports in the Asia-Pacific region.  Negotiating countries include: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chili, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam.  Altogether, these nations represent 40% of the global GDP and roughly one-third trade across the globe.

Last week eBay seller and entrepreneur Melissa Paz, owner of Lazy Breeze Deals, and eBay’s very own Seller Evangelist Sarah Brubacher, inspired a crowd of nearly 250 Latina women in Salt Lake City at the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Women Business Leadership Conference. Sarah set the stage by introducing the “new eBay” and the power of connected commerce, and introduced Melissa who shared her personal eBay story.

Earlier this week, David London, eBay’s Head of Government Relations for the Americas, participated in a panel hosted by the Congressional Black Caucus titled “Cracking the Code: Getting a Job in Tech.” He was joined by leaders from Facebook, Google, Yelp and Clearly Innovative, to discuss the skills and tools required to land and retain work experience in the extremely competitive tech industry.

eBay seller, Rebecca Leigh, owner of Textile Magic, recently participated in a House Small Business Committee roundtable discussion hosted by Ranking Member Nydia Velazquez (D-NY). Ranking Member Velazquez called the roundtable to discuss how best to enact tax policies that promote development and investment for small businesses.  In addition to Rebecca, participants included industry small business associations and Democratic members of the committee.
